Leadership Lessons from HUMANERA: Turning Blind Spots into Breakthroughs

In seeking success, we often look for mentors, direction, and specific blueprints to follow. But what happens when those things are absent? For many of us, the path forward isn’t always well-lit or carefully constructed. And for some, the absence of supervision catalyzes change.

At HUMANERA, a company I founded with a unique approach of turning blind spots into breakthroughs, we understand the transformative power of this philosophy. Our journey is a living testament to this. Growing up, I didn’t have the luxury of conventional guidance. My mother, though well-meaning, couldn’t provide the steady direction a child might need. She came and went, and when she left, I was left to figure out life mostly on my own. To make things even more complex, I never met my father. This absence, the lack of maternal and paternal guidance, created a void, but it also provided me with the special opportunity to trust my instincts, develop self-belief, and learn how to recognize patterns in the world around me.

At first glance, my childhood might seem like an example of adversity, a young boy learning to survive without the firm foundation of parental guidance. But as I look back, I realize those gaps, those blind spots, were not weaknesses. They were options to develop a critical skill: the ability to see beyond the obvious and turn challenges into possibilities for evolution. For instance, the absence of a father figure, while initially painful, became a teaching moment. It meant I had to rely entirely on my instincts. In a world where guidance was scarce, I had to trust my inner voice and develop a self-belief that pushed me through times of uncertainty.
